The Internets: a small world after all…
The other day, I was looking through random library-esque blog posts, as you can do on WordPress (a lovely thing to be able to do, by the way) and I figure it helps me see what’s going on and who’s doing what and potentially expand my horizons! Well, I found the most beautiful post, which I would like to share with you and then share the story of the small, small world that is the internets.
Well, I commented on that blog post because it was just SO lovely. I particularly like the comment made that
Ironically, the conference [that she attended] today was about mobile technology and pushing library content to users wherever they are, but I still think experiencing the physical space and purposeful hush of a real bricks-and-mortar library is essential and irreplaceable.
My comment on this noting that I completely agree that as much as technology increases access and ability nothing really can replace those “bricks and mortar” of that physical space that connects people, information and community. Community and connecting are concepts that are incredibly important to me.
Anyway, so the point is that I made my comment and went on my way remembering the beautiful post, but… well, you know… that was it, really. I mean, I was happy to have been able to let someone know that I had liked their post, but I moved on.
Well, here’s where the internets gets small. Later that week I got an email from my boss at work with a, “p.s. I think you found my blog. It’s a small world that internet”!
And so, the internets are a small world after all…

I’ve been to the Trinity College Library! The picture, while wonderful, doesn’t quite do it justice – it really is one of those physical spaces that should be experienced.
Love it!
